ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD: WILL BROWN ON BRUCE CONNER

Ulrich Museum of Art, Wichita State University, Kansas, USA

Bruce Conner was raised in Wichita, Kansas, attending Wichita University (now Wichita State) for a time before graduating from Nebraska University in 1956.

The Ulrich recently installed an excellent exhibition of the artist's compelling print work and have invited Will Brown to appear this Saturday night for a BC-related lecture/performance.

From the Ulrich:

"According to Bruce Conner, his celebrated 2000 retrospective at the Walker Art Center, 2000 BC: The Bruce Conner Story Part II, was incomplete. The ultimate Bruce Conner retrospective, as far as the artist was concerned, would have seven parts—one for each face of his complex and varied practice.

On the heels of Will Brown's Bruce Conner’s Metaphysical Services, an exhibition inspired by the artist's more ephemeral leanings, the San Francisco-based collective will host an experimental presentation focusing on their research and projects as well as Conner's dual relationship to his native Wichita and his resting place of San Francisco."

Are YOU in Kansas?? No way . . really??
